Great Grandma Sledding Day

We finally got warm enough weather to go sledding. I know it is hard to believe that 34 degrees is warm, but we have been having -25 wind chills lately. We went to Great Grandma Reichhart's to sled. She has a revene in her back yard. The boys had a great time on the sleds. Sometimes it got a little tough for Oliver to make it up the hill. Sledding is a family favorite in the winter.

Max's sledding day

I cut pictures of white stuff from magazines. I played board games. Cylie didn't like my snack of pudding. I brought snack today. We picked up Dallas. Oliver played with lots of stuff in my class today. I had a squirt of soap on my hands before snack. I am on the letter 'N'. There are lots of things that start with 'N'. My favorite 'N' word in Nicholas. Dakota made me get in trouble. I can't play any video games the rest of the day or have any fruit snacks. I want to go outside to make a snowman. I want to go sledding at Great Grandma Reichhart's.

A Day in history

I don't care what your politics are you have to agree that today was an amazing day in history. It truly shows that you can do anything you want and the only person holding you down is yourself.
I was watching the inauguration today on tv. I told max that the man on tv was our new president. He turned to me and said, " But mom that's just Barack Obama." I was floored. I am sure I didn't know who the president was when I was 5 years old (President Reagan took office on Jan. 20, 1981). Maybe this is a sign of things to come and that the next generation will be involved in our amazing system.

Max's Day at School by Max Adams

I played with the marble thing again at school. It's kind of like mine, but it has real marbles. And I was trying to find N's on newspapers. I did Bingo. We picked up Dallas and we took him back. Me and Dallas were playing bombs and putting stuff on fire. That's it.

Book It

Dakota gets a coupon for a free personal pan pizza if he reaches his reading goal for the month. This is a great incentive if you have a normal kid who loves pizza. But Dakota is not your normal kid. I have been having trouble getting Dakota to want to read. He says he doesn't want the pizza so why does he have to read the books. Then I thought, what does he want? I got it - Wendy's. I told him we could go to Wendy's each time he got his reading goal done. Wouldn't you know it, but we sat down and read 3 books in a row. I guess you just have to have the right motivation.

Learning to write

Dakota has really come a long way in his writing. He wrote a note to Max in the snow today. He wrote "Max I'm going to make a snowman". I'm not sure how he thought Max was going to read the note since Max can't read, but I am just excited he is starting to write things to communicate his thoughts. Way to go Dakota!

That's why we call him 'Dewey'

Max and I were playing with the marble run that he got for Christmas. I noticed that one of the yellow marbles was a little smaller than the rest. I told Max, "This one must go to something else it is smaller." We play a little more and Max says to me, "No mom it's a gobstopper." As he is sucking on the 'mystery' marble. Leave it to Max to decide to taste test a marble to see if it goes with the set. What a Dewey.

Dakota's day at school

Dakota and Max will also be telling about their day.

Dakota- I went to school today. I wore Max's shirt today. It was too small, but Dad said to wear it anyway. My teacher was back because she was gone yesterday. We had one recess outside and one in the gym. I got picked up.

Max- I wore my boots to school today.

The worst luck ever!

I thought I would list all the bad luck we have been having.
1. Andi laid off from her job after 8yrs
2. Lost power in ice storm for 4 days in subzero temps right before Christmas
3. Basement floods
4. Furnace is broke because of flood water
5. Furnace manufacture no longer makes parts for our furnace. We have to convert to new system.
6. Lightning hits the house and fries the internet modem, router, and network card.
7. Dane slides on the ice and has to have his truck fixed after hitting a curb.
8. While Andi is at school with Dakota, our house gets broken into and lots of electronics are stollen.
I know these things are suppose to come in threes, but give me a break. We are due for some good luck. If you have a 4 leaf clover be sure to send it our way.

Potty Training

We have decided to try the potty training thing again with Oliver. We will see how it goes. I am going to have a party when we are finally done with diapers.

Getting Started

I am just getting started on this blog thing. Might be fun to keep track of all the crazy things that happen to our family.
